Multi-Instrument integration makes the 3000T the “home base” of your bench

Most modern digital oscilloscopes meet the minimum specification requirements for general purpose troubleshooting and debugging, which was not the case ten years ago. The bandwidth, sampling rate, channel count, and memory depth are known as the "top four specifications" and the majority of scopes provide more than adequate performance today. The good news is that the digital oscilloscopes are rapidly evolving above and beyond their top specifications to provide more value to you.

Beyond the "top four specifications", you quickly realize the latest scopes have better displays, often with better waveform visualization technologies. Because the oscilloscope is fundamentally a waveform viewing tool, the Keysight InfiniiVision 3000T provides an 8.5-inch capacitive touch screen display with a the industry’s fastest update rate of one million waveforms per second. The faster the waveform-update rate, the higher probability of visually discovering anomalies in your designs due to a lower dead-time - the inevitable time between acquisitions where an oscilloscope cannot acquire any data due to processing previously acquired data. You could be missing true anomalies that exist in your design simply because your oscilloscope does not update waveforms fast enough.

At the end of the day, if you can’t see a problem, it is very hard to fix the problem!

Some scopes address the common usability challenge of powerful but complex advanced triggers. Setting them up appropriately is a challenge even for oscilloscope experts. In the case of the 3000T, the Zone Touch Trigger comes standard in addition to the advanced triggers. With Zone Touch Trigger, you can draw a box around the signal of your interest, select "must" or "must not" intersect, and then the scope triggers and isolates it for you! The tedious advance trigger setup could take more than 10 steps and still might not isolate what you want, but with the new zone touch trigger, "if you can see it, you can trigger on it".

Multiple Instrument Integration is now a common product offer. The 3000T integrates six instruments in one:

- The 16 digital channels help you to not only visualize digital signal phenomenon but time correlate them with analog signals, like a logic analyzer.

- Protocol Analyser capability to support low-speed serial bus trigger and decode for 11 protocols (e.g. I²C, SPI,CAN, FlexRay, SENT) with hardware decode. Engineers no longer have to deal with error-prone manual counting of 0s and 1s. CAN and LIN data can be decoded to more human friendly terms beyond the normal HEX, ASCII, or binary format.

- An arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) enables stimulus and response testing. The 3000T also comes with noise injection and waveform modulation feature as well as on-screen waveform editing tool.

- The 3000T provides an optional 8-digit counter with the totalizer leveraging it 1.6 ppm ultra-stable time base and a 3-digit digital volt meter.

Application-Specific Tools and accessories

Whether your application is power, automotive, education or RF, the oscilloscopes now often offer a software application package to accelerate your design and debug. You can set up error-free, giving you the best chance of evaluating your design most efficiently. Additionally, the 3000Tsupports an array of probes from ultra-low current (50μA) to high-voltage probes for power, and high-speed differential or high impedance probes for LVDS or digital designs.

Mixed-Domain Analysis.

The time correlation of analog, digital, and frequency domain signals is an emerging troubleshooting method in designs which integrate RF. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is offered as standard, so you can quickly time correlate analog, digital, and frequency domain phenomenon in a single display, providing more insights into your design. Knowing exactly how long it took for the signal to hop from one frequency to another after a specific digital command may be the key data for your troubleshooting.

Documentation and remote control.

Keysight BenchVue software (free) enables you to control, capture, and log measurements from multiple instruments simultaneously, even if you are sitting in your home office. If you simply want a full remote control of your scope as if you were sitting in front of it, just connect to the scope via LAN or USB from your PC or tablet device to change settings, save data, and/or capture screenshots.

The N8900 Infiniium Offline Oscilloscope Analysis software (optional) allows you to analyze your captured data offline, potentially using more powerful analysis features than available on a scope.

In summary, today’s oscilloscopes have so much more beyond traditional "top four specifications". The touch technology is now a part of oscilloscope designs like all other devices, it even helps you to trigger signals instantaneously. The waveform update rate of a scope has increased faster than ever to provide you the best probability of discovering rare anomalies in your designs. And even in general purpose oscilloscopes, their problem solving features including instrument integration are so advanced, perhaps beyond your imagination.
