Test Drive HexiWear: The Wearable IoT Development Kit

We are offering 3 DesignSpark members the opportunity to Test Drive the new wearable IoT Development kit available from RS Components, Hexiwear.

Hexiwear is a wearable development kit for the Internet of Things era, which was originally launched on KickStarter by MikroElektronika. 

It is a small and sleek, low-power device packed with sensors to quantify yourself and the world around you. Wirelessly enabled, it can connect both to devices nearby – or to cloud servers far away. Its greatest feature? The new and original firmware you will develop.

Above all, Hexiwear is a foundation for your own inventions. It comes with several preloaded apps to give you a flying start. From there, you can use it to build a smartwatch, a remote sensor tag, or expand it into a sophisticated smart home controller.

Hexiwear's core functionality can also be enhanced with hundreds of additional sensors actuators and transceivers of all kinds. All you need to do is park it on the Hexiwear Docking Station, which is included in our Test Drive bundle.

In creative hands Hexiwear can be almost anything. A few possible applications include; motion capture, pedometer, weather station, smartwatch and wall mounted smart home control centre, however we know that you guys and girls of DesignSpark can do much more!

How do I enter? 

The Test Drive competition requires interested DesignSpark members to submit an application by clicking here or on the banner below. Entrants must indicate their previous experience with similar technologies, applications or equipment and an overview of how they will incorporate Hexiwear in to a future project if they are selected to Test Drive the product.

Winning entries are also expected to post an article on DesignSpark.com detailing their project from start to finish with supporting photos, diagrams or videos. You may instead choose to post a detailed product review, however please state this during the application stage along with details of how you will review the product.

These projects and reviews can be either written or in video format. Please state your preference when applying. The completed article or video must be live on DesignSpark.com within 60 days of the items being received.

The successful applicants for this Test Drive will receive a bundle containing:

1 x HexiWear IoT Dev Kit Docking Station (122-2284)

The panel of judges for each Test Drive will include a member of the DesignSpark community team, a member of product marketing at RS Components and a member of product management within RS Components.

Judging will be based on the below criteria, weighted equally: :
1. Innovation and originality of ideas
2. 
Demonstrated competence with the technologies including links or descriptions of past projects
3. Relevant qualifications, either through employment, education or training.
4. A detailed description of how the prize would be used in a project.
5. Blogging/Vlogging experience

By submitting an application entrants agree to adhere to the DesignSpark Test Drive terms and conditions.
